Fudgy, soft, and dusted with powdered sugar, these Christmas cookies are perfect for festive celebrations.

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Powdered sugar, for dusting
Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or nuts

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Melt butter and chocolate together, stir, and let cool slightly.
  • Whisk sugars, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Fold in melted chocolate mixture gently.
  • Sift flour, cocoa, and salt; fold into wet ingredients. Add mix-ins if desired.
  • Drop dough onto sheets, bake 10–12 minutes. Cool 5 minutes on sheets.
  • Dust with powdered sugar while cookies are warm.

Notes

Do not overbake for fudgy texture. Optional mix-ins include nuts, chocolate, or peppermint.
