Sweet and tender slow-cooked carrots glazed with maple syrup and brown sugar, perfect for holidays or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

1 pound fresh carrots, peeled and cut into sticks
1/3 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Optional: 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon or nutmeg
Optional: 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice

Instructions

  • Peel and cut carrots into uniform sticks.
  • Place carrots in a 4–6 quart slow cooker.
  • In a bowl, combine maple syrup, brown sugar, butter, and optional spices.
  • Pour glaze over carrots and stir to coat evenly.
  • Cover and cook on low for 3–4 hours until fork-tender.
  • Optional: uncover for the last 20–30 minutes to thicken glaze.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning, then serve with any remaining glaze.

Notes

Can substitute coconut oil for butter, honey or agave for maple syrup, and add nuts or herbs for extra flavor.
