Crispy Garlic Parmesan Roasted Green Beans are oven-roasted until blistered and tender, then topped with melted Parmesan and fragrant garlic for a savory side dish with golden edges and bright flavor.
1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
1 teaspoon lemon zest or 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice optional
Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Wash and trim green beans, then dry them thoroughly.
Toss green beans with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl.
Spread beans in a single layer on the baking sheet.
Roast for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through.
Sprinkle Parmesan evenly over the beans and return to the oven for 3 to 5 minutes until melted and lightly golden.
Broil for 1 to 2 minutes if deeper browning is desired, watching closely.
Remove from oven and finish with red pepper flakes and lemon zest or juice if using.
Drying the beans thoroughly helps achieve crisp edges. Avoid overcrowding the pan. Freshly grated Parmesan melts best and creates a more even crust.
