Fudgy, layered brookies with a chewy cookie base and rich brownie top. Perfect for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Cookie Layer:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Brownie Layer:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate, melted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch pan with parchment paper.

  • Prepare cookie layer and press into pan.

  • Prepare brownie layer and spread over cookie layer.

  • Bake 25–30 minutes until edges set.

  • Cool completely, then slice into squares.

  • Store in airtight container or freeze.

Notes

Sprinkle sea salt, add nuts or caramel for variation. Chill cookie layer slightly before adding brownie layer for cleaner separation.
