Light, airy churros cooked in an air fryer for a golden, crispy treat without deep frying.
1 cup water
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Nonstick cooking spray
In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt. Bring to a gentle boil.
Remove from heat and stir in flour until a smooth dough forms. Let cool 5 minutes.
Add eggs one at a time, beating until incorporated. Stir in vanilla.
Transfer dough to a piping bag with a large star tip.
Preheat air fryer to 375°F and spray basket with nonstick cooking spray.
Pipe 4–5 inch strips of dough into the basket, leaving space between churros.
Air fry 10–12 minutes until golden and firm. Rotate basket halfway if needed.
Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll warm churros in mixture.
Use gluten-free flour or plant-based butter for dietary swaps. Serve immediately for crispiness or reheat in air fryer.
