Simple Chicken Kofta Recipe Packed with Flavor

Juicy chicken koftas flavored with Middle Eastern spices and herbs, served with a creamy garlic yogurt sauce. Easy to make, perfect for weeknights or meal prep.

Ingredients

1 lb ground chicken (preferably thigh)
¼ cup grated onion
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp coriander
½ tsp paprika
¼ tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
2 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tbsp chopped mint
¼ cup breadcrumbs or almond flour
1 egg
1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

Garlic Yogurt Sauce:
1 cup Greek yogurt
1 garlic clove, grated
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp olive oil
Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix ground chicken, onion, garlic, spices, herbs, breadcrumbs, and egg.

  • Shape into 8–10 koftas with wet hands.

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  • Cook koftas in batches, 4–5 minutes per side, until golden and cooked through.

  • For sauce, combine yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt. Let rest 10 minutes.

  • Serve koftas with sauce, herbs, and optional veggies.

Notes

Use ground chicken thigh for juicier koftas. Can be baked at 400°F for 18–20 minutes. Substitute turkey, lamb, or beef if desired.
