Teriyaki Chicken Skewer | kingcooks features tender grilled chicken glazed in a sweet and savory homemade teriyaki sauce.

Ingredients

pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
½ cup soy sauce
¼ cup brown sugar
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
Wooden or metal skewers
Sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish, optional

Instructions

  • Whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.

  • Marinate chicken in half of the mixture for at least 30 minutes.

  • Thread chicken onto soaked skewers.

  • Grill over medium heat 10 to 12 minutes, turning frequently.

  • Simmer reserved marinade and thicken with cornstarch slurry.

  • Brush thickened glaze onto chicken during final minute of grilling.

  • Rest briefly, garnish, and serve.

Notes

Use reduced-sodium soy sauce if preferred.
Soak wooden skewers before grilling.
Do not brush raw marinade onto cooked chicken.
